Activity Report:
National trachoma control programme has started with
its pilot phase on 21st March 2004 in all
four provinces (Punjab,
Sindh. NWFP, Balouchistan) of Pakistan The pilot
phase programme was divided into three phases, first
was training and proforma testing, second was
Participatory rural appraisal (PRA) exercise and
third was door to door survey. Christoffel blinden
Mission (CBM) Supports two pilots through the
National Trachoma Task Force(NTTF) in North West
Frontier Province (NWFP) and Sindh, while Sight
Savers International (SSI) supports one through
National Trachoma Task Force(NTTF) in
Punjab and other one in Baluchistan.
Current Status:
National trachoma task
force meeting was held at PICO on 19th-20th
November 2004 after the successful completion of door
to door survey in all four pilot areas. Which review
the progress so far made in trachoma intervention and
discussed the salient feature and strategies of future
National Trachoma control Programme. Ultimate
intervention goals (UIGs) and indicators for
intervention based on door to door survey were
identified and trachoma action plan prepared.
